Wednesday I had another two wonderful kids groups. 9-11 year olds.<\/p>\n

For my first one, EB1 with two kids, the lesson was telling time.\u00a0 The text book then showed pictures of Trump doing stuff, like sleeping, waking up, eating, playing the trumpet (himself????).\u00a0 They were supposed to say “He’s waking up at 7 o’clock” which doesn’t really make sense for Q and A, so I changed it. ^^;;\u00a0 I first had them just read it, and then said, “So he wakes up at 7 o’clock.”\u00a0 They repeated it.\u00a0 Then I said, “I wake up at 5 o’clock.\u00a0 What time do you wake up?”\u00a0 and I chucked the stuffed Marimo toy at them. (That green thing I posted about a while back) They had to answer “I wake up at ?? o’clock.” and then ask their partner the same question and throw the Marimo.<\/p>\n

Kids love throwing things.\u00a0 In a controlled manner, of course.\u00a0 We did a bunch of verbs.\u00a0 That was last week, actually.\u00a0 THIS WEEK it was the second review lesson so I had them do it again, PLUS I tried to teach them the third person.\u00a0 SHE GOES, HE GOES.\u00a0 ^_^;; MAYBE they understood, but had trouble remembering…I had to prompt them almost every single time, and they got confused as to question word order. Oh well…some kids just remember better than others.\u00a0 It is really hard….<\/p>\n

For my second class, they were lower level.\u00a0 I taught them to read \ud83d\ude00\u00a0 The lesson was about food and restaurants. I made flash cards!<\/p>\n

Roxy: [oo]\u00a0 Look!\u00a0 It’s oooo!<\/p>\n

kids: Oooo!<\/p>\n

Roxy: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!\u00a0 Like room!<\/p>\n

kids: Oooo!\u00a0 Room!<\/p>\n

Roxy: Good!\u00a0 [ch]\u00a0 It’s ‘ch.’\u00a0 ch ch ch<\/p>\n

kids: ch ch ch<\/p>\n

Roxy: CHCHCHCHCHCHCHC<\/p>\n

kids: Hahahaha CHCHCHCHCHCHCHC<\/p>\n

Roxy: Very good \ud83d\ude00\u00a0 [ee] It’s eeee!<\/p>\n

kids: Eeeee!<\/p>\n

Roxy: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!<\/p>\n

kids: HAHA EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!<\/p>\n

Roxy: Shhhhh that’s too loud @_@:;;<\/p>\n

Kids love making funny noises. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n

Roxy: Okay, so…*writes on the board* [ch]<\/p>\n

kids:\u00a0 “Ch…”<\/p>\n

Roxy:\u00a0 *writes* [ee]<\/p>\n

kids: “…ee”<\/p>\n

Roxy: *writes*\u00a0 [se]<\/p>\n

kids: “…….s?”<\/p>\n

Roxy: YES!\u00a0 It’s “cheese!”<\/p>\n

kids: aaaah naruhodo! (I understand!)<\/p>\n

We did choose, cheese, chicken, etc, and I also taught them ‘oa’ like boat, and the two [oos] as in 1) room and 2) book, cook.\u00a0 Actually the lesson plan was “I like _____.” But it was about a restaurant, so they SHOULD say “I WOULD like _____”\u00a0 I know there’s another chapter in the book with the same thing, so this time I taught them, “I want ___, please.”\u00a0 It’s useful!\u00a0 We did that last week, actually.\u00a0 THIS time, I had them make their own menu.\u00a0 Then present it! (See pic)\u00a0 “This is my restaurant.\u00a0 I have soup.\u00a0 I have salad.\u00a0 I have (whatever.)\u00a0 Okay, who’s next?”<\/p>\n

The next part was amazing. I only listened for the next five minutes.\u00a0 T-chan raised her hand.\u00a0 “Hai!\u00a0 Uh, this is\u00a0 restaurant.\u00a0 One, pizza.\u00a0 Two, soup.\u00a0 Three uh…ch…chicken …nandakke (what did I write…) oh, sandwich.”<\/p>\n

Roxy: Very good! High five! *high fives* Okay, who’s next?<\/p>\n

S-chan:\u00a0 One, cheese sandwich.\u00a0 Two,<\/p>\n

etc etc Only two boys didn’t volunteer, so I had to call on them. It was great.<\/p>\n
