Is it?

War is a cycle of hate. How did it start? It doesn’t even matter. It could have been an accident. It could have been a difference between people’s beliefs. But I’m pretty sure that if a man stabbed your child in the chest, you are going to either stab him back, or if you’re weaponless, beat him until you no longer have strength in your body.

How’s the murder’s wife going to feel now that you’ve murdered her husband?

We all have our own opinions, values, beliefs. But some things are obviously wrong. For example, stealing. Don’t take things that don’t belong to you. But what if you’re starving, about to die? People steal food. Is that right? No. How do we solve that problem?

Well, people should give food, money, and goods to a starving homeless person. But we don’t, usually. Why not? Well, we might feel that since we work so hard, we should keep what we earn. They’re not working for it! Or maybe we barely have enough for ourselves. Or maybe we’re just selfish. But what if everyone gave a little bit? We could take care of everyone if everyone cooperated.

So why don’t we?

The answer: because we are human, and many of characteristics and emotions prevent us. We are battling our human nature every day.

That’s why society has rules, which put social pressure on people to do the ‘right’ thing. Interestingly, we can notice different social values and different kinds of pressure in many different cultures.

So how do we break the cycle of hate and bring peace to the world?

We must try and understand each other. We must remember that love and life and the most important things.

Take abortion. Some people say, “Oh, you’re killing a baby!” and some people say, “It’s not a baby yet.” What if the spinal cells from an embryo can cure a 10-year-old child’s fatal disease? The mother agrees to a procedure, but other people say, “Oh you are a murderer!” and attack the doctor. See, everyone has their own values, and their own perspectives.

We MUST NOT force our values onto other people. But we do. Why? Because we are human. Christians preached love and forgiveness, and then went on a Crusade. Why?

Now, I’m not saying you have to ACCEPT other people’s beliefs. You don’t have to agree that abortion is wrong or alright. You don’t have to start worshiping one god, or stop.

Just TRY to understand. Try to understand and try and live next to your fellow man. Just remember, the purpose of life is to love and to learn. Well, that’s what I think, anyway. Maybe you think differently. And that is okay.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. That’s really important.

Nobody wants to do evil things. That’s against human nature. I’m sure Hitler didn’t say, “I’m going to exterminate the Jews because I’m an evil bastard.” He had his own sense of justice and his own ideals.

So Bin Laden is dead. People are rejoicing. Why exactly are you happy? Think about it very hard.

I wish people would celebrate the end to the threat of violence, rather than celebrate the death of a man.

Everyone acts according to their own sense of justice.
