Yesterday, my goals were to hang out with as many friends as I could, and my mom, and write my new book. I accomplished all of these!
I was on my way out the door to have lunch with Brittany – my hand was on the door knob – when my mom came over to me and asked, “Roxanne, what’s the purpose of life?”
I promptly answered, “The purpose of life is to love and to learn. And to teach.” I had read that in an Anne Rice book years ago (I think it was “Servant of the Bones”) and I like it a lot. I added the ‘teach’ part to the original quote.
My mom cocked her head and looked at me. “So how are you pursuing the purpose of life through MMA?”
“Well,” I said, “I’m doing something I love. I love the people I train with, I love you, I love life. And I’m learning how to do MMA. And then I’m teaching it. Teach to kids, teach to my peers and friends…. I want to teach many things, not just MMA!”
“Oh,” Mom said simply, and just looked at me. I think she was surprised I had the answer.
What do you guys think?
