training, being active, new music

I train at Ground Slam from 9 to 10. However today, I had business in Tokyo which started at 10 AM, and it takes 50 minutes to get there… :( So instead of doing one round, rest, another round, rest, another round…I did FOUR 5-minute rounds in a row. It was super hard….it was exactly like a fight. Actually, that’s the closest I’ve ever been to feeling like I was in a fight during training.

Maybe it doesn’t sound like much, four rounds in a row, but it is when you’re going at 95% with UFC fighters. (me 95%, then probably like 65-70ish? Depends on the guy, I dunno)

aaaaand I got gouged in the eye! It looks worse in person than in this picture. ^^;

I had kind of a Three Stooges moment with this one guy. He’s not a pro, but participated cuz the morning class got cancelled. I was telling him how I usually take breaks, but I planned to do a bunch of rounds in a row.
I thought I was being pretty clear…here, even you can understand. I’ll teach you Japanese.
ima (“ee-ma”) = now
yarimasu (“ya-ree-mahs”) = to do (something), i.e. sparring
ka = ? (question marker)
hai = yes

Roxy: *goes over to him* “Ima yarimasu ka?”
guy: “Ima yarimasu ka?”
Roxy: “Hai.”
guy: “Eh?”
Roxy: “Hmm?”
guy: “Ima yarimasu ka?”
Roxy: “….hai, ima yarimasu ka?”
guy: “Ima yarimasu?”
Roxy: “Huh? Ima? Hai, Ima. Yarimasu ka? O_o;; IMA!”
guy: Ima?

LOL DUDE we are not communicating. Finally he said, “Kyuukei shinai desu ka?” (You’re not taking a break?)
Roxy: Sou desu, kyuukei shinai desu.” (That’s right, I’m not taking a break.)

So I showered and ran to my very active business in Tokyo. The guy during who’s round I got gouged was like “OH are you okay? oh sorry! Are you sure you’re okay! are you sure?” I was like yeah yeah no problem. I didn’t even have time to examine the eye because I was running late..it was like…almost still bleeding, so everyone was like “Roxy, did you win?” LOL

Anyway, very significant meeting…. afterwards, I had lunch with my colleagues in Hibiya park. What a nice area! I’d never been there before.

I’m TOTALLY digging this new Fireball CD I got! Man I wanna see another Fireball concert. I just saw that in 2010 they did one in Yokohama. aaaah ~_~! I’ll have to pay more attention.

Monday Monday….can’t trust that day…

This morning, I didn’t wake up at 4 AM! :D :D

I woke up at 3:55. ;_;

Breakfast was yummy. I bought these sweet bran flakes that I usually don’t buy because I can’t stop eating them half the time since they’re so delicious. But I got tired of oatmeal and my usual bran cereal, so it was a nice treat to mix it with my usual yoghurt/cottege cheese chocolate mix.

Yesterday, training was great.
I sparred with BJ, the headgear guy (don’t know name), Tokoro, Omigawa, and Mizugaki. Omigawa was smirking at me and grinned after we finished sparring because of the conversation we’d had about how guys wouldn’t hit me sometimes. I had thanked him for actually aiming at my face, and he laughed and said, “SURE! :D ” I like that guy, even if he is kind of scary and resembles a Saiyan. His hair is cool and spikey.

I really get training that’s just like a fight situation there, and with BJ screaming advice at me live during my sparring, I learn so much!

After that, I rented 5 music CDs at Tsutaya. I’ve gotten bored of all my music, so I got: The best of AKB48 (J-pop girls band), Best of Unicorn (J-rock), Chehon’s new album (J-reggae), Fireball’s new album (J-reggae) and Shonan no Kaze’s new album (J-raggae). I chose wisely! So far, I’ve listened to Fireball and Chehon and Unicorn, which are awesome, as expected. I’ll get around to the others later.

I watched the movie “Knowing” with Nicholas Cage. What a fantastic movie. I was riveted! Suspenseful, intriguing, mysterious, scary at times…. there was symbolism, and they didn’t spoon feed you the answers to the mystery at the end. Supernatural. I loved it.

Actually, I planned to start watching it and take a nap in the middle, because I usually fall asleep during movies. But I was so interested that I didn’t get sleepy, even though I was laying down. o_O; So I ended up NOT taking a nap…..which is kind of bad, actually. ^^;; I really needed it…

I lifted weights at the gym in the evening. Pretty exhausted.

Now I’ve started “Revenge of the Nerds.”
Today will be a long day at work.

Here’s a pic BJ posted on his blog, of the time the guys cooled off after training at Ground Slam. I figured that it was a guy thing, and I showered in the gym. :P (pic by BJ)

Jewels 16

I can’t get energy. x_x

Energy pleaseeeeeeeeee….

Maybe it’s because I’m waking up at FOUR AM EVERY FREAKING MORNING. So yesterday I (woke up at 4) and worked from 8 to 4, after which I hurried to Shinkiba and watched Jewels 16. Celine didn’t ask me to corner her…so I screamed advice from the stands. :x It’s too bad she didn’t get the decicion…it’s a shame because it’s not like she’s totally outclassed. She just needed to be a LITTLE MORE aggressive and push forward. I think she was doing good, and her techniques are improving. But how does a fighter KNOW that they are improving if they don’t win? I feel bad for her, but I don’t want her to give up! I’m so proud of her unyielding spirit. She’s the strong one. It’s easy to keep going if you win.

Or if you have energy. u_U

So at about 8 o’clock I fell asleep in my seat in Shinkiba because I was so tired, and but I got to see all my teammates fight. I ran into Tama-chan, not Tamada from the AACC, but the girl I fought years ago, who quit MMA and started working in a chiropractic office.

Katsumura-san was cornering his girl Ishikawa, who fought Tama-chan (AACC)
When Amiba fought Betty, my current and former teammate, I didn’t know who to root for, so I just didn’t scream anything. It was a great back-and-forth battle.

I made it home at 11 and actually slept until 5:20.
Now I’m going to Ground Slam pro practice. I feel wussy that I can’t do both morning class and evening tech + sparring. But when a body can’t move, a body can’t move….. morning training is really intense. I’m gonna try and go extra hard today.

tough work-day and “Moon”

I felt unwell all day, but I got through work. Lots of kids….at least they weren’t the super young ones and I didn’t have to jump around.

My body is pretty sore from Thursday, and it was really painful just stretching. I warmed up and Billy held mits for me. After I got home, I finished watching “Moon.”

Very odd, thought-provoking, and disturbing movie. The music choice is exceptionally good- the piano set the mood well. The reactions of Sam were the most fascinating thing about the movie. He didn’t freak out about certain things…just took things in stride. Some things were assumed but didn’t have to be stated, like WHY there’s a 3 year contract. The whole thing was just really well done, although not what I expected at all.

I’m going to go back through my Twitter timeline and get other suggestions from people who kindly wrote them.

Bed time. Gonna rush to Jewels after work and root on my teammates and Celine!

veggie issues, Slamming good time

This morning I had great sparring as usual at Ground Slam.

This is Katsumura, the boss, who gave me the towel and is really supportive! He’s so cool! He invented the “ninja choke” and he’s called “The Real Tiger Mask” (a comic book super hero).

After training, I hung out with Celine in Johnathans.

I went home and now I’m watching a movie on my computer.
Had dinner. Now I’m gonna go to the AACC. Sakura’ll be there :D

So….lately I’ve had to make sure I check vegetables and fruit very carefully to see where it’s from. Almost ALL peaches are from the Fukushima prefecture, and I’m sorry….but I’m not buying them, because they’re probably contaminated. :( I mean, I don’t know, but I’m sure the government isn’t going to tell us…. And other vegetables, too.
Sorry, broccoli and asparagus…no. This is in the supermarket under Kawasaki Station. It’s usually super cheap and I always shop there. :(

Then at the 100 yen Lawsons shop near my house, I bought these peppers, took them home, and then noticed the label. DAMNIT. Well, I supported Fukushima. And now they are in the trash. :( The bugs can enjoy. I’m sure if there’s ANY amount of radiation, it’s very minute, but I’m sorry….I don’t wanna shorten my life span for another second if I don’t have to.
