Statue of the monk Jizo (maybe, I’m guessing because of his hat and staff) and the pagoda, at the Kawasaki Daishi temple.

Oh, this is very interesting: link to explanation site The Five-story pagoda was completed in March 1984 in recognition of the 1,150th anniversary of the death of Kobo Daishi. It’s a simple and solemn octagon in compliance with the form of the ShingonSchool. An octagon is a building form which is like a circle, symbolizing broad-mindedness and wholeness. There is also an analogy with devotion to Buddhism through Shakamuni’s teaching of the“Eight Right Ways.”
