I love my Wednesday kids!!

Went to bed at 10 PM. Woke up at 12 AM. Tried to go back to sleep. Woke up at 3. Rolled over, maybe slept, woke up at 4:45. god damnit.

Ate a huge delicious breakfast. 😀

Put make-up over my bruises and went to work.

Today I got into work and saw that Chris had my favorite kids group! I nearly passed out in panic. It was a scheduling mix-up, so I got that straightened out.

The day passed. I worked. And then 4:45 rolled around! My Wednesday kids!!! The 10-11? year olds, EBS. I love them! I showed them my awesome London Guardsman Pencil and told them that I got it in London. Chris had taught them last week because I was in London. They were like “Huh?” and after a few minutes, T-chan finally understood what I meant and explained it to everyone. 😀 Little smartie!! 😀

That lesson couldn’t have gone any better. I got right down to business, teaching them the phonetics ‘ph’ and ‘ou.’ They love screaming out random sounds, and then I got them to sound out ‘mouse,’ ‘house’ ‘mouth’ ‘out’ etc etc. Then, I brought out flash cards of places, and had them throw the marimo toy in a circle and ask each other questions in turn. I wrote it on the board so they could remind themselves and get reading practice: “Where do you want to go?” “I want to go to _____” (the beach, the zoo, the park, the movies, the party, the concert) It’s actually kind of a long sentence with a lot of ‘to’s’ for their level.

But after going around TWICE, most of them could remember the Q and A.

THEN we did the text book, which consists of Sam calling Tom and inviting him over, and Tom refuses at first, but is primarily bribed by Sam with chocolate cookies, so he rushes over. So divided the kids into teams of two, and gave them toy cell phones.
kid 1: “Ring ring.”
kid 2: Hello?
I taught the kids
“Hi, is ___ there?” (has to ask for the kid next to him/her)
“Yes.” *hands over phone*
“Hi, let’s go to ____!”
“No, I want to go to _____!”
“Okay, let’s go! See you.”
“See you.”

THEY SAID IT ALL PERFECTLY, omg I looooooooooove them. They’re such fast learners and so cooperative and they wanted to do it over and over and when I said it was time to stop, they were like noooooooooo. <3 <3 <3 and even T-kun, who has trouble reading, was able to read the words we learned today like 'phone' 'out' house etc etc and remember everything. Then we reviewed reading and writing, and they could remember. When they left, I felt so happy and fullfilled with all that I'd taught them, that I was literally tingling with positive energy. And here is another pic from London. Celine and I before my fight
